Is there no justice for Hindu villagers of Sastitala?

Hindu villagers of village: Sastitala, Block: Minakhan, Malancha, P.S. Haroa, Sub-division: Basirhat, District: 24 Paraganas (North) are yet to get any justice from police and administration regarding vicious attacks on them by Islamist youths on February 19, 2012.

Despite submitting formal complaint to the police station, persecuted Hindus have not got the complaint number from police thus far and what is more striking, police, during the last investigation in Sastitala pretending to nab the Islamist toughs, virtually warned the signatories of the formal complaint. It is alleged that police even reprimanded Hindus and admonished them of dire consequences for the adventurism (complaining to police instead of hushing it up).

Is there no justice for Hindus in Bengal?

Dear Sir,

We, at the outset, happen to be inhabitants of village: Sastitala and have been suffering immensely for days owing to rising aggressions of neighboring Muslim village.

An electric transformer is positioned in our adjoining area while another one is in the adjacent Muslim-dominated village. Muslims do steal electricity from there at every time and 5 Islamist youths of village: Andol Pota came to hook electricity from the transformer in the Muslim area and owing to the illicit activity the electric transformer burnt down.

Next, to have electricity they came to our village and tried to have it from our transformer and we objected and tried to prevent them from doing the same as well. Facing the prevention from Hindus, almost 30 Islamist youths pounced on us with bamboo sticks and other rural weapons leading to grave injuries of 2 Hindus of village: Sastitala.

Women were not spared; they were manhandled, molested and became victims of extremely dirty languages of the Islamic criminals.

Names of some of the aforementioned Islamic felons are in the following lines.

3) Ayub Mollah, son of Siddique Mollah

4) Yachin Mollah, son of Yakub Mollah

7) Jainal Mollah, son of Abdul Mollah

Islamists also threatened that they, depending on their own whims, would burn down Hindu houses, put a final stop to developments of Hindus and would murder Hindus wherever and whenever necessary.

Hindus remain stranded

Malancha, situated in Sub-division: Basirhat, District: 24 Paraganas (North), has been a hotspot of animosity between Hindus and Muslims for years and village: Sastitala, one of the many villages in it, witnessed a corresponding flare-up once more on February 19, 2012. However, the basis of this hostility is quite unusual and it’s regarding a transformer (an electrical device by which alternating current of one voltage is changed to another voltage). Each of the Hindu and Muslim localities in the village enjoys a separate transformer; Islamist bid to exploit the Hindu locality’s transformer initiate the bloody crisis.

It is not a secret in Sastitala and its neighboring villages as well that Muslims use their transformer rampantly and hence, it burnt down completely a few days back. However, to get the supply of electricity a few Islamists came to the Hindu area at 7 pm on the very day and started to make use of it all of a sudden (without feeling the need of informing Hindus there). When Hindus objected, a clash started – the gang of Islamists simply pounced on Hindus and the ferocious bid was retaliated by Hindus vehemently.

To stall any further development of the bitterness, Hindus lodged a formal complaint against the Muslim felons in the police station of Haroa. But police, strikingly, was found to be reluctant to adopt any measure in this regard. Thanks to the strange indifference of the administration Hindus remained confounded, it is needless to say.

Hindus, being desperate and to put an end to the police’s strange mind-set, went en masse to the police station on February 21, 2012 (Tuesday) at 11 am. Nonetheless, police personnel did not even care to speak to them till 2 pm and Hindus were left stranded. The step motherly treatment of police proved to be more than enough to make Hindus impatient and they burst into loud protests altogether. In consequence of the topsy-turvydom police, ultimately, buckled under and pledged to take criminals into custody before long.

Whatever it is no arrest has taken place yet and it is being alleged that an influential Islamist lobby is trying hard to prevent police and administration from adopting necessary methods and also to nab the criminals.

Islamic appeasement makes government blind

The reigning political clique in Bengal is hell-bent to curb Hindu Samhati and thus to stamp down the voice standing for Hindu rights and their legitimate claims whereas the mounting troubles in the Indo-Bangladesh border area owing to Islamist rowdies, cattle smugglers in particular, remain unnoticed. Well, several reports of this incident have already been published in this website prompting many to term Hindu Samhati as blatantly communal but the threat it puts forth is undeniable. Mainstream media, after lots of brainstorming, have concluded it as a burgeoning threat to the security of India.

Perhaps the government of Bengal needs more time to wake up as the gruesome happening is spearheaded by Islamists, being regarded as the mainstay of the government and hence, placated at every nook.

What is most striking, BSF personnel are not allowed to fire a single shot (as per order in April, 2010) against Muslim encroachers (from Bangladesh) in the border areas who have got a fillip hence and enter India clandestinely almost every day. And all these have led to the tragic death of a BSF jawan, Sartaj Singh (age 45), hailing from Uttar Pradesh.

He got wounded viciously on last Saturday when a band of BSF personnel positioned in Kaijuri, Swarupnagar, Sub-division: Basirhat, District: 24 Paraganas (North) tried to fight hundreds of Islamist cattle smugglers from Bangladesh. Owing to the weird order, BSF personnel had rural weapons like bamboo sticks, wooden bucklers only. On the contrary, aforesaid Islamist smugglers were armed with all kinds of lethal weapons. Soon the later ones overwhelmed BSF jawans and Sartaj along with Jitender Pal Singh were chopped mercilessly. Grievously injured Sartaj was first sent to Basirhat Sub-divisional Hospital, later to SSKM in Kolkata where he succumbed to death on Tuesday.

And the governments, both at the center and state, are yet to adopt any fruitful approach in this regard. Surely they are more interested to go on placating Islamists to ensure their minority vote bank.

In accordance with J S Prasad, DIG, BSF (HQrs), “The decision of no firing was adopted on last April and 49 attacks took place in 2011 altogether. 69 jawans were wounded as a result. In this year 6 attacks have taken place on us leading to the injury of 12 BSF jawans.” Everyone is aware of the mindset behind such attacks but Bengal government due to its treasured Islamist friends has not said single word thus far.

People living in border areas of Basirhat and Bangaon Sub divisions have turned out to be the greatest casualty of governmental indecision and Islamist appeasement. Why don’t we focus on the worst affected areas here then? Swarupnagar, Hakimpur, Bithari, Kaijuri, Sholadana, Ghojadanga, Shayastanagar in Bajuria, Jalalpur in Hasnabad, Katakhal, Sutia in Gaighata, Hingalgunj – all in Sub-division: Basirhat have become the greatest victims where inhabitants are having sleepless nights virtually. And they consider the governments, especially Bengal, as most culpable in this regard. People, in strength, are witnessed to blame the Islamist appeasement candidly. Why shouldn’t they do this as well? It is too easy for Islamist encroachers to travel across rivers (in these areas) with cattle; villagers claim this can be made highly difficult given that the local administration and police remains vigilant round the clock.

Here is a question. Is the Bengal government too naïve to comprehend the sinister design behind this daily campaign from Bangladesh? It is a part of the design of Greater Bangladesh; Islamist smugglers are simply encouraged to sneak into Indian territory and to have shake up as far as possible to break Indian, virtually Hindu, morale completely.

It’s better for the Bengal government to address this issue – endangering national security day in and day out instead of employing best efforts to admonish Hindu Samhati evoking laughter only. Its rising minority appeasement is drawing the entire state towards a communal conflagration only and silence and reluctance to act will inflame Hindus.

If the government fails to act, Hindus will take the cudgel of responsibility to save nation and subdue all satanic maneuvers, be it of Islamists from Bangladesh aided by indigenous turncoats.

BSF and cow smugglers clash in Swarupnagar afresh

Persistent silence of the State to increasing crime acts as indulgence only and the entire structure is then dubbed (by wrongdoers) as a mute, namby-pamby body politic that can be swindled at every time. And this happens to be the frame of mind of cow smugglers (operating in Indo-Bangladesh border area without restraint) at the moment. The same was noticed once more on January 23, 2012 (at night) when cow smugglers attacked BSF personnel at Hakimpur, Barasat viciously for endeavoring to prevent smuggling of cows.

The BSF camp was ransacked completely then and a similar incident was repeated on January 24, 2012 at village Swarupnagar, P.S. Swarupnagar. Nevertheless, intransigence of BSF personnel made the cow smugglers run off later on. On the word of villagers, no less than 100 smugglers enter India from Bangladesh illegitimately on every night and 250 cows (on average) are smuggled to Bangladesh.

BSF is doing its best even if it has already stated its incompetence to guard the entire area (extensive in every sense of the term). The force was cautious on Tuesday due to the attack on Monday and villagers also lost no single moment to inform the battalion of the next operation.

All these make us posit a pertinent question. How long will this continue? Is it becoming difficult for Indian government to heed Indo-Bangladesh border?

There is a highly popular phrase in the English language, necessity knows no law, and it’s the same reality, changing in an amazing speed with each day it passes, which must be dealt with similarly and all these have compelled us to begin this BasirHat Post.

Basirhat, to cut a long story short, happens to be a major city along with a municipality in District: 24 Paraganas (North) in the Indian state of West Bengal. This sub-division also takes pleasure in its proximity to the River Ichamati, branch of River Ganges; the city is positioned on the banks of the river. The entire area has a long history dating back to the mediaeval period in Bengal, dominated by strifes and pernicious events. It is also the area where the “Tebhaga Andolan”, a precise farmer’s movement famed across the globe, occurred in the mid-1940s and sent shudders through the spine of then administration.

Nevertheless, much has changed in the following decades and the area’s closeness to Bangladesh has resulted to an exponential rise in the number of Muslim infiltrators from that country changing the demography of the area largely. In the beginning, Hindu temples, shops and households were ransacked and also destructed and what followed was nothing but a complete hell. Thanks to the indecision of the government, Hindus became the worst victims and even if a few of them have been compensated, Hindu areas in Basirhat remain scared yet.
